THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAS APPOINTED MJ JOU, THE COMPANY’S EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, TO SUCCEED BJ LEE AS PRESIDENT.
Epistar Corporation (TSE: 2448) announced that its Board of Directors has appointed MJ Jou, the Company’s Executive Vice President, to succeed BJ Lee as President. BJ Lee is now Chairman of the Board of Directors and will serve as Chief Strategy Officer as well. The appointments will make the management more efficient.
MJ Jou received his Ph.D degree in Materials Science & Engineering from University of Utah. After returning to Taiwan, he worked for Optoelectronics Research Laboratories in Industrial Technology Research Institute and served as Manager while BJ Lee was Director there. In 1996, BJ Lee and MJ Jou co-founded Epistar Corporation. MJ Jou focused on RD activities and contributed many patents with BJ Lee to Epistar’s patent portfolio, which is more than 900 (including applications) up to date.
The spokesperson of Epistar Corporation, Shih-hsien Chang, expressed that its Board of Directors made the appointments because Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) expects the listed companies to clearly distinguish the responsibility between Chairman and President. The appointments are effective immediately; BJ Lee is in charge of Strategies and IP Rights while MJ Jou is responsible for Finance, Operation, Sales, and RD.
